Two dreams,
One Theatre

ABOUT US
Who doesn't dream of having a theatre company?
Sun and wine Arts Company - the idea - came to Hamish Chappell, excutive producer, in 2022 as part of a university project. Sun and Wine standing for Apollo and Dionysus, the Greek Gods of Sun and Wine respectively.
The Birth of Tragedy, by Nietzsche in simple terms, states Apollonian is centred on the individual, Dionysian is centred on the ensemble. Their domains oppose each other; however, it is the belief that both these domains overlapping and converging that creates good theatre. Logic and irrationality; prudence and passion; reason and emotion.
Sun and Wine Arts Company started because I (Hamish), wanted to put on shows that I wanted to see, whether they were smaller or new works we've yet to hear about. A constant for Sun and Wine productions is showing the world as it is. And it’s not all tragedy! There is joy and humour and absolute absurdity littered throughout human existence. But there is also terrible, unfortunate truth, and we produce these shows not to inspire sadness but to inspire unity, or at least for you to think and consider for a moment.
For Claire, I've always wanted to create theatre from the ground up, from writing to creating to production to the finished product. For me, theatre is about connecting and relating, to walk out of theatres feeling like the weight of the world has been lifted for a while. To see yourself on the stage, to feel heard.
Claire and Hamish both have worked on each show SWAC produced from the very beginning, together they have teh skillsets to entirely put on a show just the two of them, but love being able to bring other people in to join their creative teams.
